It’s also a story that attempts to illustrate the universal human condition. Love beyond reason is the English translation of the French drama “On peut s’aimer sans se comprendre” by the French academy award winning author Kama Sywor Kamanda.
Kama Sywor Kamanda has produced world-renowned literary work and his books have been translated into many languages. Since the publication of his first book in 1967, Les Contes des veillées africaines, he has written a dozen works totaling a thousand poems, sixteen plays, four essays, and various collections of hundreds of tales. His work also includes several novels.
He is the author of Les Contes du Griot ( winner of Grand prix littéraire de l’Afrique noire), Chants de brumes, (winner of Prix Paul Verlaine) , La somme du néant , (winner of Prix Louise Labé), Les myriades de temps vécus (winner of Prix Théophile Gautier from Académie française).
Translator: Charitha Liyanage is a lecturer in French language and literature at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in Sri Lanka. She specializes in Comparative Literature and Francophone Literature. She has translated The Life and Work of Kama Sywor Kamanda, Le Coeur à rire et à pleurer and a collection of French stories.
